Our approach to respectful networking

Out of Office exists to bring people together for relaxed, intelligent and enjoyable professional conversations.

Our events are informal, but they are not unstructured. We expect everyone attending to behave in a way that respects others and contributes positively to the atmosphere of the room.

What that means in practice

  • Treat others with courtesy and respect

  • Be inclusive, open-minded and professional in your interactions

  • Recognise that people attend from different backgrounds, sectors and experiences

  • Enjoy the social nature of the event without making others uncomfortable

This is a professional networking environment, even when it is hosted in relaxed or social settings.

What we do not tolerate

Out of Office has zero tolerance for behaviour that undermines the safety, comfort or dignity of others. This includes harassment, intimidation, discrimination, unwanted attention or behaviour that is aggressive, inappropriate or persistent.

Our role as organisers

We are responsible for the environment we create. If behaviour falls below the standards we expect, we reserve the right to intervene and, where necessary, ask an individual to leave the event without refund.

This is not about rules for their own sake. It is about ensuring that Out of Office remains a place where people feel comfortable, respected and able to engage properly.

A final word

Most people never need to think about this. They already behave exactly as we would expect.

This approach exists to set the tone clearly and to protect the quality of the experience for everyone who attends.

By attending an Out of Office event, you agree to this approach to respectful networking.
